Building Spaces Auroville
Challenges in Land Development
This design course will address the issues on urban development of the Indian city of Auroville, in Tamil Nadu. The traces of the experimental city, designed by Roger Anger in 1968 for 50.000 inhabitants, have been diluted due to an uncontrolled low-density urban growth.
The students will work on restructuring and reinterpreting the existing natural environment through a complex intervention in a selected area and its limits with deep understanding regarding the relationship of nature and city, while using public space as a tool for urban cohesion.
